August 13, 2006

I've added a bunch of streaming video from YouTube on the video page. Most of these are available for download on the site as well, but some are rare gems only available on YouTube.

August 4, 2006

The forum upgrade is complete. In addition to the upgrade I've added a number of modifications to prevent spammers from joining and posting. I've also deleted most of the the spam accounts and posts. If by some chance I deleted your account and you're not a spammer, I apologize. You'll have to recreate your account. If you have any issues or find users that are abusing the forum, don't hesitate to email me or send me a Private Message in the forum.

July 27, 2006

The Forum is currently being upgraded. Unforunately this will require a significant amount of manual effort so it will be unavailable for a few days. The new version will feature some enhancements: avatar support, private messaging that actually works (hopefully), and improved controls to keep spammers out.

March 9, 2006

Thanks to a fan of the site who sent me these, I've just posted three new videos on the site:

  • Safari (music video)
  • So Sad About Us (live tv performance)
  • Tipp City (music video)
I'm still looking for good copies of Pacer, Hellbound, and any other live television performances. So if you have them, send 'em my way and I'll post them on the site.

March 3, 2006

I'm moving the server to a new host that will give me 20x more bandwidth. If all goes well, the site should be back up sometime Monday, 3/6.

February 12, 2006

Due to my limitations in bandwidth I've made the videos available through BitTorrent. All videos are currently available on the Pirate Bay. You can also download the torrent files on the video page.

You will need a BitTorrent client to download the videos once you have the torrent file(s) (Confused? See WikiPedia or the BitTorrent Intro page to learn how BitTorrent works). Here are some popular BitTorrent clients:

...or see WebMonkey's "BitTorrent Client Shootout" for a comparison of BitTorrent clients.

If you have plenty of available bandwidth and want to contribute, please download the videos and seed them.

November 18, 2005

The Breeders filled in for TV On The Radio who were forced to cancel their performance at the first show celebrating 4AD's 25th anniversary. Josephine Wiggs played bass for the first time since the Breeders hiatus in 1994. Read all about it here.

September 14, 2005

I've been getting unconfirmed reports that The Breeders are playing two shows at the Blackheath Halls in London November 19th and 20th. There is still no info on the Blackheath Halls website, but I imagine it will be up there shortly.

For tickets, try the Blackheath Halls box-office: 020 8463 0100.

August 3, 2005

The site was down for a couple days due to a hiccup in the process of moving to a new provider. Everything should be functional again. I apologize for the inconvenience.

July 25, 2005

Word on the street is that the Breeders have done some demos in LA, and could return to the studio after the latest Pixies tour ends:

More details:

Thanks Amy!

December 9, 2004

Downloads have been hit and miss lately. I've made some changes and all site downloads should be fully functional again.

I've also doubled the monthly bandwidth on the site. Now the bandwidth should last four days at the beginning of each month instead of two :D

June 3, 2004

Warner Music Group has announced that it will be dropping many of it's artists, including the Breeders, due to low profits. Final decisions haven't been made yet, but it sounds like the Breeders might be one of the first bands to be dropped due to the low sales of Title TK. See RollingStone for more details.

March 7, 2004

The Breeders have scheduled a handful of shows in California for one-week tour in March. For more info, check out Tour Dates. There also word from the Breeders camp that a new album is in the works. I will post more as it becomes available.

March 6, 2004

For the latest on the Pixies reunion, try these sites:

I'm assuming that because of all th activity and touring that the Pixies are doing, we probably won't hear much from the Breeders in the next few months. Stay tuned!

January 14, 2004

Although it's not really Breeders news, word is out that the Pixies are scheduled to play the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, May 1, 2004. 4AD has not released any official word of the reunion, and nobody seems to know which of the original members will be present.

More details:

December 7, 2003

September 24, 2003

After being down for a month, the forum is once again working. Everything has been moved to a new server...hopefully for the last time. It looks like everything in the forum is intact with the exception of any posts or changes that occurred after August 16, 2003. Anything after that has been lost due to the "host-that-hit-the-highway", as someone put it.

September 8, 2003

The Breeders forum and any of the MP3's and videos were being hosted on another server. The webmaster took down the server without notifying me, so I lost everything for the last week before it went down. I will be moving the entire site to a new server in the next month. At that point I should be able to run the Forum and provide file downloads again. Stay tuned.

August 31, 2003

The Breeders forum and the video/music downloads are not working currently. They are hosted on another server that appears to be down. I'm trying to contact the owner to get everything working again as soon as possible.

June 2, 2003

November 9, 2002

My latest ISP has once again shut down the Videos. They promised me 20 GB of bandwidth per month, but shut me down after only 10 GB.

I've come to the conclusion that is simply not feasible to offer videos on this site. So from this point on there will be no more video downloads. I will leave up MP3 downloads for the time being.

November 5, 2002

The Videos and Forum are up and working again. Someone (Kris Kris) was kind enough to host videos and MP3's on another server. As of now, all videos are available all of the time.

Also, the Forum is working again. However, any posts made after October 10, 2002 were lost. Also, anyone that registered after October 10, will have to register again.

This forum is a bit different than the last, but overall it is much nicer.

Enjoy!

October 22, 2002

My second ISP has apparently gone out of business (I guess $4.95/month for hosting *was* too good to be true). As a result, their webservers have been taken offline. This means that the Forum and all downloads are also offline. I'm working on trying to find another ISP, but it will take some time. Please be patient.

October 4, 2002

Queue up your VCR's. It's confirmed! The Breeders will appear on the episode entitled "Him", which is scheduled to air on November 5, 2002 on UPN. The episode was filmed September 20th. In the episode, The Breeders will play "Little Fury" and "Son of Three" at the Bronze Club. For more details, read the Rolling Stone article.

August 29, 2002

Tons of videos have just been posted on the site. These are all full-length videos. These are higher-resolution, higher-quality videos than the ones that were on the site previously. These all use the (excellent and free) DivX codec (v5.0), which you must install before you can view these videos. Mac and Linux codecs are available as well.

One video will be available to download each week. When a video is available, it will say 'Available: Now'. You can vote to choose which video will be available each week. If you don't want to wait 20 weeks to see all of the videos, you can find them all on KaZaA right now. The first video will be available Monday, September 2nd, so vote now!

I have not posted the videos for Safari and Hellbound because the quality of my source tape is so bad that I cannot get the audio and video to sync when I digitize it. If anyone would be willing to send me an NTSC VHS copy of these videos, please email me.

August 23, 2002

NBC will rerun the Late Night with Conan O'Brien episode with the Breeders on Monday, August 26. If you missed it the first time, set your VCR now. On they show they perform "Huffer". Check local listings for times.

July 31, 2002

The next single from Title TK, Son of Three, will be released September 2 in the UK and September 3 in Canada. A US release date has not been announced yet. It will feature a re-recorded version of the title track, plus bonus tracks consisting of a live version of "Safari", recorded earlier this year in Amsterdam, and the Breeders version of the theme to the television show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No word yet on if there will be a video or not.

July 31, 2002

John Cameron Mitchell, actor, writer, and director, of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, will perform "Angry Inch" with the Breeders at the Bowery Ballroom in New York August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The Breeders "rehearsed" the song at their show in Boston on July 30th with guitarist, Richard Presley, singing vocals.

July 30, 2002

Yes, the producer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer is trying to work Kim and Kelley Deal into an episode of the next series. Apparently the producer, a Breeders fan, heard them play the show's theme song on tour recently. The Breeders' version of the song will appear on their upcoming Son of Three single to be released September 2, 2002. For more information, click here.

July 23, 2002

That's right, the MP3's are finally up on the site again. You can find them on the individual album pages under the Music section.

In order to prevent bandwidth overages, this site is limited to a certain number of downloads per month. Once that limit is exceeded, music and video downloads will no longer work until the end of the month.

July 21, 2002

The new Breeders Forum is finally up and running. Now there is a more appropriate place for everyone to chat, post set lists from shows, and argue about which album is best :) You can get to it by clicking on "Forum" from the main menu, or by clicking here.

June 27, 2002

The Vancouver and Phoenix shows have been cancelled! Also, the last show in New York at the Bowery Ballroom has been moved from August 4th to August 5th.

June 1, 2002

Kim and Mando were interviewed on a French radio in April. The interview is part of a 90 minute radio show about the Breeders. You need Real Audio to hear the show. You can find the show in the live section of HelterSkelterFM. The show features various Breeders tunes and Breeders related material as well.

June 1, 2002

There is an article about the Breeders in the June issue of Spin (with Moby on the cover). It talks about drugs (surprise), the history of the Breeders, and the "true nature" of Kim and Kelley's relationship.

There is an article about the Breeders in Pulse!, Tower Records monthly magazine, in addition to articles in Jane and Nylon.
